Hey Guys I've been having a great trouble free time with my printers pro 100 and an epson wf7610 for a while now. I've saved a small fortune refilling my carts with the precision colors ink and I get great "mileage" and AWESOME photo prints !

Today I went to my sons house and I noticed a printer on a shelf not being used.

Ir's a canon ip6000d

It turns out my daughter in law used it lightly since it was new and it was put on a shelf when she got a new computer and printer. Lucky for me it has been carefully stored inside with carts still in it.

I was hoping to use some of my pro 100 ink to test it out before investing $$ in inks and carts but after a visit to precision color web site it looks like it uses a different ink

At any rate the exterior and interior are very clean and now I plan on getting a new set of canon OEM carts. I have a computer with xp on it for printing so I'm hoping all goes well.

Any tips or advice on putting this cool old printer back to work will be greatly appreciated !

As always I have a great time here and there is so much information available here that goes back years !!!!!

I can't wait to start printing with it !!

Also, I want to thank all of you guys for helping get such a great start with my photo printing!!

Thanks
zing

@zing, It’s a good idea to start out fresh with new OEM cartridges however, if the printer has been unused for quite some time I wouldn’t go wasting all of the new OEM ink on maintenance.

It’s perfectly safe and ok to use your current Pro 100 inks in the iP6000 cartridges, the only difference will be that the colours may look slightly off, they will work fine.

It would be ideal to refill the current set of cartridges just to get started, and try flooding the waste pads with Windex before running any cleaning cycles, good luck with your new printer...

CLl-8 carts will work in this printer and maybe cheaper to purchase, and so will your CLl-42's..

Congratulations on your new printer!

Start off with nozzle checks only until you are sure the print head is functioning properly to safeguard your print head. Post images and ask questions if you are unsure before proceeding to print images. Give her plenty of TLC and she'll make beautiful images for you. :)

Thanks for the great advice. I'm almost ready to put the carts in it. It's a good thing I'm not in a hurry

I come into my little print room and lose track of time.

I start to print a couple and before you know it, I have a stack of old train photos, airplanes and cars for my grandsons next visit.
