No, the pigment black is a special pigment ink only suitable for plain paper, not for photo paper. The colour and photoblack inks are dye inks. The use of pigment ink instead of dye ink will most likely ruin the print head by clogging and ink starvation.

Thanks!

For years I used a pigment ink, aka Eboni, a carbon ink. For paper I used Premier Art, a Fine Art mat paper, with excellent results. I consider it a photo paper because it's for my b/w photos. I've come to raise this question: can we consider that a "photo paper" is only a gloss paper?

I just acquired a Pixma iP8720 ... and I wonder if some people would like to use that extra size black cart and develop a severe case of envy. My printer in my previous incarnation was an Epson 1430 which I've heard it called a "dye printer", but I always used the afore mentioned Eboni ink and a mat paper.

I'm new on this thread, I want to study it more. I don't mean to create any heated arguments!
