dear.
i have Epson printer p50, i am using it every now and then for 3 years (not heavy printing}, one month ago i noticed that after around 25-27 pages of printing, the printer suddenly become slow printing . then slower and slower. only if i restart the computer and the printer,it return to its usual speed then slow down again after the same amount of printing. i delete the (AUD.) file ( it was only 3kb in size)according to EPSON FAQ recommendation but it is of no help. i tried to use another computer, but the problem remain the same.i am using WIN XP.
i need your help to solve this problem
THANK YOU

do you get any info in the status monitor during that printing cycle ? You may use the WicReset utility and run a status report which lists recent error conditions, those may give a clue about what is happening. Maybe it's an overheating slow down.

the service manual of the L800, almost identical with the P50, just with the ITS - integrated tank system - CISS - notes here - Carriage overload - possible paper jam. But this would normally not be the reason
for a slow down, but there are other codes listed for head temperature problems. So technically the firmware would be able to detect such problems.

the WicReset utility mention one error only which is (0x0c CR PID Lock error). the status monitor is not showing any error, the printer respond quickly to the print order and start printing with normal speed . then suddenly slow after 25-27 pages. i search through this forum and i found this thread.(http://www.printerknowledge.com/threads/strange-problem-with-epson-p50.7465/). in the end of the discussion he mention that with WicReset utility he changed the model of the printer from P50 to T50 and the problem was solved, but he didn't mention HOW?. Is changing the printer model will not affect the firmware or the EEPROM ?. will it truly solve the problem ?

WicReset allows switching the firmware for selected printers - downgrading - when an firmware update has been performed unintentionally, but I don't know whether it is possible to change model types - p50 vs. T50.

@akramjef, try changing the USB cable to a better one, these cables can vary quite a lot in quality, but my money is on using the WICReset to alter the EPROM chip...

Dear The Hat thank you for replay .i changed the USB cable and defragment the hard disk but no improvement . the only things i didn't do is altering the EEPROM ,kindly describe how to alter the EEPROM using WicReset utility ( step by step) as i don't want to make a fatal mistake and ruin the printer. is it necessary to uninstall and re-install the driver? which driver i must install the P50 or T50?
thank you

Sorry, @akramjef I can’t help you on this one, I don’t have an Epson printer or the WicReset utility right now, but defragging the hard drive was sensible but not necessary because the problem is with the printer and not the computer, can you use a USB cable similar to this one...

I only use WicReset to reset the waste ink counter, but I think that a firmware change as well requires a paid key with that software, but I never had to change the firmware in the past.
