After experimenting a lot with ArgyllCMS and in a previous post Emulator posted my optimized 480target for ArgyllCMS, I am still impressed by the very neutral B/W prints obtained with this setup, even on printers having NO dedicated gray ink cartridges.

Superior to any profiles produced with the standard Colormunki method and improved afterwards with 2 optimization targets to improve B/W printing with minimum amount of colour patches. It produces even better prints compared to the ones with larger amount of patches.

This is his opinion about this 480target:

"....CAP480.txt As a batch file creates a single A4 page, 480 patch profile with a particularly good colour and B&W rendering (Sihl glossy and probably most other papers). This profile, with a relatively small number of patches, for some mysterious reason, out performs larger patch numbers and was originally devised by pharmacist. The .tif file, when cropped and resized to A4 has 10mm square patches. In my opinion this creates the best profile of any so far. See also post #196 for examples......"

Hi pharmacist, looking at post #1 of the reference in your link, I see the "post #196" has become post #195 page 20, due to editing elsewhere in the thread. This is always a problem with referencing these long threads!

I have corrected post #1, so anyone who previously looked up the examples and did not find them, should look again. :)
