Canon MB 2040 Region specific

I bought a canon MB2040 in South Africa. We moved to the UK and now I can not find the replacement cartridges anywhere. PGI 1400XL and for the colour PGI 1400

Can someone help with a solution so that I can use the regions print cartridges apparently PGI 1500.

The printer is very new, so I do not want to buy a new one.

One option is to refill your existing OEM cartridges, then they will work for you, or buy some refillable carts and use them instead, both options will require 3rd party ink, here is a few sites covering the two different types of cartridge..

The MB2040 is Canon region 4, which is Africa, Middle East and Russia. Europe is Canon region 5 so the European version of the printer is MB2050 and the European cartridges are PGI 1500XL. These will not work in the MB2040 which needs the PGI1400XL cartrisdges.

If you buy refillable cartridges for your printer make sure you get the version intended for your printer. I guess you cannot find the proper cartridges in Euriope but will have to buy from a seller located in China or in Canon region 4.

Contact Canon support and ask if they can change the printer's region for you.

Most if not all of the refillable cartridges are multi region so @Tom25Blay should be ok buying them here in the EU.
The OEM's can be refilled too, the ink monitoring does not have to be disabled on theses printers..

Thanks for the reply, I have mailed canon and they say it can not be changed.
