Hi I got my HP pro x551 just under a year. Printed not that much until now but small amounts on a daily base.
Just from this evening printer gave error message: "close cover for cartridge bay". My printer is working with a ciss, almost straight from the beginning
Checked the ink bay, nothing seems wrong. Checked for jammed paper but nothing was found.
When I checked waiste ink cassette it was pretty heavy and looking a bit messy.
Any one any idea how I best check for the origine of the rattling noises. I have been looking for a video for how to dismantle a pro x551dw but was not successful till now.
Suggestions welcome

Whenever I hear rattling noises, I pick up the device and slowly tilt it one way or the other and then listen for the location of the sound. Usually it is a screw that fell out, or a piece of plastic that broke or maybe part of the original packing that came with the printer that we missed. It's a hard lesson to follow unpacking instructions. Ask me how I know....

If all else fails call the manufacturer or email them or go to the manufacturer's forum. In case you don't get a good answer here. This is an excellent spot for answers IMO.

We have a 551dw here and the one thing I've noticed is a real worry is that the cartridge bay will physically drop when printing. That may have some bearing on your "close cover" error. Might also be that the sensor for that lid has come loose and is being jounced around?

But rattling could well be something loose such as a roller or within the paper path.

As for service manual.. I've seen one somewhere but from what I could see these things are a beast to strip down. Not for the faint of heart.
