Please help. I have tried to clear the error code B200 for a week now. The earlier forum opinion is the printhead. But my printhead is stucked to the RHS of the printer when I face it. In 2011 Malter said that he found a white tag and when he pulled on it the printhead carriage was released.
But I found nothing like that white tag on my PIXMA Pro9000!
Someone else suggested to turn the big wheel on the RHS when the top cover was taken off. I did this many times without any effect!
So I am in limbo. Your advice is urgently needed.

Hi @nwin, the B200 error is just a Common general error code and doesn’t real mean anything by itself, it’s also very unusual to get that message on the 9000, unless something is obstructing the free movement of the print head. (Foreign body)

When you turn on the printer how many times does the orange LED light blink before resetting and starting again ?

Rotating the black gear wheel on the side of the printer should release the locking latch that holds the print head in place and if it doesn’t then something else maybe preventing its release.

Turn the gear wheel marked in this photo slowly and carefully watch to see the print head rise to its highest point then the cartridges and head can easily moved by hand..

My honorable The Hat, many thanks for your precious reply. I have fixed the problem and we are happy printing the Xmas cards to send to our friends. Old technology and habits die hard!
Yes I did turn the black wheel slowly both ways and see the carriage rise and drop. But the carriage refused to move. In fact it moved forward and back 2mm! I reconnected the power cord then turned the printer on. After a bit of moaning and groaning, the printer carriage started to move to the left. When it got to half way the cord was quickly removed. It has been very good ever since after I re-installed the clean print head and all the ink cartridges.
In fact, there was an error 6A00 on display for a short while but this was removed when I spoke the ink absorber pads to raise their levels up high.
The Hat, Many thanks. I am for ever thankful to your assistance. Our confidence in Canon has been restored thanks to the Printer Knowledge.

Thank you for the feed back and the good news that your back in business again, now that the printer seems to be error free, try flooding the purge unit with so window cleaner and run one deep cleaning cycle, that should help keep the purge unit in good working condition, (Error 6A00)

The Hat, Thanks a lot for the suggestion. You said 'so window cleaner', do you mean any window cleaner or it must be a particular type? How much of the stuff should I pour in, 5ml, 10ml, 15ml, 20ml...? I wonder where do they end up finally? Please advise.
I follow the common Aussie saying:'if it aint broke then don't fix it!'

It was broke and it can easily revert, so a little intervention on your part now may prevent it happening again.

You only need a standard window/glass cleaner to spray the whole area in and around the purge unit and you can use paper towels to clean and wipe some of the bits that are covered in black gunk, and when you’re finished, just pool both purge pads to over flowing (5ml) and run one deep cleaning cycle.
I wonder where do they end up finally? Please advise.
All of your excess waste ink from every cleaning cycle will end up in the ink absorber pads on the bottom of your printer and they too in time will need cleaning or replacement, that’s another days work for some other time, “if it ain’t broke”

How do you get the side cover off to get to the black wheel please?

Sorry I don’t have the instructions for the 9000, but here’s how to remove the top cover from a 9500... (Very Similar)

I think this is the best info available. The service manual for the Canon Pro 9000 doesn't have the disassembly info, and the service manual for the Canon Pro 9000 MK II is only available from commercial downloads, no free downloads are found on the web.

Sorry for reviving this old thread... but I still have one of these ancient printers, and it is still used occasionally.

Anyway here is my problem.
The printer does power-up and it starts rotating the carrier rod, then it stops and The Green and orange lights are flashing (11 times).

Opening the cover has no effect, and the printhead is not moving to the center.
I opened the printer and tried rotating the black gear manually, but that does not unlock the carriage.
Removing the cartridges and printhead I found the locking latch... pressed it down and released the carriage.

Then powered up the printer again to investigate.
The printer is not turning the purge unit gears, and the locking latch is not releasing.

Unplugged the printer for 30 minutes and went do do something else.
When powered it up again the printer unlocked the printhead and moved it to the center but it stopped there.

This problem got worse gradually over a two weeks period, and very light use (4-5 pages per week).
Basically the printer would fail to initialize (The 11 blinks error), but after restarting it a few times it would work.

Any ideas what it could be?
