Well, my Brother printers work perfectly well with ink from octopus-office.de so there's no need to change that :)

With the Canons I almost spend more time unclogging printheads and flushing cartridges (magenta). So I need to find a solution there or otherwise let the Canons go...

Maybe you should discard the magenta cartridges, but keep the chips? Flushing the cartridges might not completely remove the fungus (?) and it might regrow and soon cause problems again, even if the cartridge is refilled with new ink without fungus.

The Canon dye cartridges can all be cleaned well enough so any dye colour cartridge can be used for magenta after a thorough flushing.

For chip transfer, see this tip by The Hat.

I'm surprised no one suggested to try the Canon ink in the brother printer... ;) I wouldnt be surprised to see it work since Piezo heads are somewhat forgiving.
I was about to ask the same thing, but you beat me to it!
It probably would work fine, since the thermal ink is supposed to be heated, it would probably be better in a piezo printhead.

Hat, I believe that cart won't fit in the MG6150. It uses CLI-526 cartridges.

Or do you mean to buy the PFI-106M and use the ink to refill the CLI-526?

It looks like the PFI-106M ink is a pigment ink which is not suitable for refilling the CLI-526 M cartridge, which uses dye ink.
Here is a Google translation to English.

@MP640, Yes that’s what I meant, just buy OEM Magenta and for all the other colours use 3rd party inks, you can also switch to using CLl- 520/521 carts with a chip swap to make refilling that much easier..
Ops, wrong link for your ink, sorry..:hide

The PFI-101M is also pigment ink :-(

Probably the P in PFI stands for Pigment?

I cannot find 130 ml carts with dye ink on this website.

Is there no sponge in these cartridges? A sponge would prevent to suck out all the ink.

@MP640, I must apologies for my blunders, I am so use to this website that I usually just ring and ask if they have a particular ink rather than go looking myself. (123ink.ie) :hide

Here is the proper Magenta DYE ink this time, it’s 70% cheaper than buying the small cartridges and is well worth it, if it will stop the poor feeding problems you’re having.

Now to get the ink out of these carts, you just insert a 5 cm needle into the hole using a 60 ml syringe with 30 ml of air in it, have the carts on top and syringe below, now push a little air in first and then suck out the amount of ink as needed.

There is no sponge inside these cartridges so you can drain the cartridge completely, it’s all good OEM ink so try not to spill any of it. :)
