Sorry to yourself, @Emulator and anyone else reading tha thought it harsh, it is not meant to be. HOWEVER... Blaming the hardware is wrong. Thinking hardware that works ok on every other version of windows will not work on windows 10 would also be highly unlikely.

Although i have not installed Windows 10 yet i would be willing to bet the Samsung software will even run on that if it is Win 8 compatible. http://www.samsung.com/global/business/semiconductor/minisite/SSD/global/html/support/downloads.html Which it is (AND EVERY other version of windows in the last decade) Not that i would use it as there is no need at all. Stuff like the "Magician" software should only be used on XP and Vista (IE Windows versions that do not support TRIM). Using it on other versions is pointless. The samsung FAQ even states this...

If you google the initial problem and error IE "couldn't update the system reserved partition" you will find there are a large amount of reasons for that error. Not even only SSD related. The only time it is Hardware related is if the Hardware is faulty. Otherwise its install/software related.

The issue is easy enough to fix in most cases and several how to suggestions which would work for @Emulator have already been suggested by people and not just myself.

Thinking every Samsung SSD owner has this issue with win 10 is also wrong, if that were true i somehow think the samsung forums... http://developer.samsung.com/forum/en would be overrun with thousands of posts by now. Even more so when you think there must be millions of their drives out there of varying revisions.

The people having issues as i have indeed stated load of times are those that either cloned their old drive wrong, fiddled with hidden partitions or formatted the drive wrong initially. Any user which has done so can basically live with it or follow provided, simple, step by step help to solve the issue, continuing to moan it will not work and making suggestions it must affect everyone or blaming the hardware maker for errors with your windows installation is pointless and will not solve the issue if you have it.

Either way this will be my last post on the SSD issue @Emulator is having because even though things are not meant to sound harsh it, as you point out @The Hat is almost impossible for them not as when you have explained things several times, after a while it starts to sound like im trying to rub things in or be dictorial, which is not what i want. I hope he solves the issue and follows one of the guides by myself or other forum members.

PS: Thinking about it........... To show im not trying to just be a A-hole If @Emulator still has issues come towards the end of the year when i have some time off from work (when exactly i can not say at this moment in time, it always varies department to department) and wants me to take a look at the drive im even open to him sending it to me (if he trusts me with his drive) where ill backup his current install and burn it to DVD in achieved parts, supply a EASY to use recovery disk should he wish to return to his old install and put a fresh install of windows 10 on his SSD. Alternatively i could even have a look and try to fix the issue over something like Teamviewer remotely if he wishes (Probably only a good idea if he has decent internet IE upload of 2Mb or better)

Unfortunately no. It has been reported that the current versions of Samsung's Magician and Migration apps do not function properly with Windows 10. Samsung will release updated apps.

You and I may be reasonably comfortable with the instructions on how to resolve the problem. Emulator and others may not be. They probably have skills we suck at. Emu should proceed at his comfort level just as I would in his area of expertise that I do not share.

This sounds reasonable but is not yet proven from the anecdotal information I have read so far. When I finally upgrade I will have my own empirical data that will not suffer from cloning, fiddled hidden partitions or improper formating bias.

It is nothing more than maintenance software for older OSs which do not support TRIM modes. Running that on win 7, 8 or 10 is pointless THEY support TRIM.

As for their migration software that has already also been mentioned it has numerous flaws and is unable to recognise certain partitions about 5 pages back. Not that @Emulator even bothered to back up his win 7 first. I even recommended several backup tools........

Why all long lasting mention, explanations and instructions.. If Emulator just back up his data on DVD and do what he wants likely flash formats and go advanced windows partions methods.

Again, you are incorrect on all points. I have Magician installed. I have used it. I have read what the application offers. Magician has other functions than TRIM.

The FAQ does not state Magician should only be used on XP and Vista. The fourth question and answer from your link:

All operating systems support Samsung SSDs, but not all operating systems are optimized to keep SSDs working at the peak performance.
Older operating systems, such as Windows XP and Windows Vista, do not support certain SSD maintenance features like TRIM.
Windows XP and Windows Vista users can use Samsung SSD Magician to manually schedule and run SSD maintenance.
Samsung SSD Magician is not currently supported via Mac OS X or Linux.

You have made some brilliant posts on the forum since your arrival. The posts about Samsung's SSD software does you an injustice. On to better things.

As the error that occurred in the attempted Win 10 update on my computer was associated with the MS Reserved Partition, ("We couldn't update the system reserved partition"), I hunted for some descriptive details and eventually found them on wiki.

Interesting about it creating a reserved partition.

I was looking to buy 10 Pro since my 8.1 is really one screwed up mess with no hopes of getting the free offer of 10 unless I rebuild back to 8.0>8.1>10 plus all the sundry software re-installs, deactivations (PITA!), etc.

I was looking on NewEgg.com and see it sells for $199. However, there were 33 reviews for a 3 out of 5 star so far. Some of them are horror stories where they fight getting back to even version 7 even with a new drive, aside from spending hours turning off all their buried snoopware and data-mining stuff. Some of it might be related to the reserved partition stuff already mentioned too.

Thinking 7 was the best so far after reading through some of it. Dunno.

I see Samsung have brought out a further revision to the Magician software, however it continues to be restricted up to Win 8.1.

Samsung have brought out V4.9 of the Magician software, which is now compatible with Win 10.

If you don't want Win 10 don't update to V4.9, the previous version provides effective protection (by causing it to fail), against the Win 10 auto install download created by Windows update KB3035583.
