Riso HC5000 full color Inkjet Duplicator?

hi,
did anyone got Riso HC5000 Digital Inkjet Duplicator?
it can print 105 A4 sheets per min.

it use 4 CMYK 1000ml Pigment ink.
can we use bulk ink to refill that bottles?
because Riso HC ink cost more!! (around 350-400 $ per 1 color)

I'm planing to buy HC5000
did anybody try cheap ink on HC5000?

My latest school went and bought a Riso machine recently without consulting me first which caused some problems when my HP CIS equipped printers turned up...

I'll look into it a bit more but overall it seems to work pretty well, still early days so I'm interested in the long term.

I've seen one of RISO ComColor printer working. It's a professional inkjet printer used by printing press. I've never seen it's being used at home or at small local photocopy store because the cost of a printer is at tens of thousand of dollar.

It's an inkjet printer, capable of printing at 120ppm simplex. Yes! It's an inkjet and not laser! The secret behind is:
It uses 4 individual piezo page-wide print head. Kind of a combination between HP PageWide tech and Epson piezo tech. So it can print super super fast.
It uses oil-based pigment ink. Yes, it's correct: oil-based, not water-based. Super fast printing speed with duplex and thousands of pages output bin capability needs a very fast-drying pigment ink. I think it's one of the reason they use oil-based and not water-based.

You may get HC5000 inks via Alibaba/Aliexpress from China, but whether you really want to take a risk and get into trouble, loose warranty with such a high value unit is really up to you. I don't know how popular refill is with this model, I would recommend you to collect some information from other people actually using refill before actually doing it.

Ah, guys this request was made back in the old days and that machine has probably been recycled and is now an iPhone cover or something similar..

Yeah, the HC5000 serie has been discontinued long time ago. It's now replaced by these guys: http://www.riso.co.uk/comparison.html. I've never seen those new series in use in my country yet, so I don't know about refill ink for those.
PS: I still see lots of 2nd-hand HC5000 in my country. Most are imported from EU and JP and use refill ink (yes, they use refill ink because they buy 2nd-hand machines with very low price. Be careful not to brick your brandnew Riso printer/duplicator! )

One thing is that these inkjet printers/duplicator are designed and optimized to print text (see their max resolution of 600dpi) at very high speed in super large volume. These cannot be compared to, say, HP Officejet Pro X series (max 70ppm and use water-based pigment ink)
