My printed photos lack vibrancy it is as if their is a VERY THIN veil in front of them I do stress this is slight but it seems to stop the photos having any punch/ vibrancy .

My set up is as folows

Cannon MX925.

useing adobe elements 13 software.

Windows 7 home premium

I am useing a refillable ink system supplied by "City ink express" and their foto-rite inks .

Paper is & day shop .com glossy paper.

I have had a ICC profile done useing the above inks and paper .

Things I have already tried

all sorts of different settings in photoshop elements 13 and also elements 6

Differnt papers ie cannon , Epson , HP, Tdk etc etc

the only slight improvement I can get is with the printer set to matt paper when actually useing Gloss.

I have also tried downloading test photos which while reasonable they still have a slight veil / lack of clarity /punch

What am I missing ?

What more can I try ?

HELP PLEASE.

I assume that the nozzle check print comes out o.k. - ?

You mention that you had an ICC profile done, that is applicable for one ink and paper combination only, with the same driver settings as the target was printed. But testing other papers and comparing would require individual icc-profiles for every new paper.

Is there a way to show your concerns, e.g. with a scan of an image showing the effect , and to post such image here ?

Which program settings - the program you are printing from - and the driver settings are you using, those may need to be discussed as well, e.g. preventing double profiling.

Hi 1st thank you replying ,
Re Nozzle check prints are fine.
Yes I understand that the ICC profile is just for the one paper and Ink .
I did test the other papers realising this but as the colours and general quality of print are not in question here I felt it did not matter too much ie the problem was still evident on all papers. I have though since tried a test print with just the bog standard settings and it showed the same problem .
I am unable to satisfactoraly scan a sample of the problem as the problem is not critical enough To really show up It is as if a slight grey veil / haze over the picture

the scan of the test print above appears to be pretty soft, is this the effect you are trying to resolve ?
Or did you scan with a rather low resolution ?

Scanning with a higher dpi does not change the impression of the image - it is not sharp, it appears to be printed with a rather low resolution, I'm not familiar with the print menu of Adobe Elements, but I would assume that there is somewhere a print resolution/dpi option, and I'm asking the experts to comment on that.

In Photoshop Elements 13 the image is being displayed at its native resolution. It is worth selecting and downloading the much used Evaluation Image from the web, which is a .tiff Pro Photo image with excellent resolution. In Elements 13 you can alter the dpi in the image resizing operation.

Remember to make sure you have turned off the printer colour management if you are using Photoshop Elements manages colour.
