Turned the printer on this AM and got the B200 error. After googling, I cleaned the print head, same thing required by the previous Canon printer a few months before it died about 3 years ago.

After drying the print head and installing, I still get the error. What do I do? Mechanical things are not my strength but with instructions I can usually get something done. (However, on the previous printer after taking it apart to replace the ink absorber pads I was stuck. That's how I ended up with the MX892. (Your welcome Canon.)

I need suggestions on either diagnosing the problem, or for a new printer. If a new printer, I do like refilling cartridges but I'm not sure how who is winning that battle.

Any suggestions or other guidance will be appreciated. I usually print something every few days. Use Precision Colors ink.

Regards from New Hampshire,

Hi Tom,

First of all, sorry for the loss of your previous printer it’s a bitch when that happens, if you still have it, maybe it can be saved even now. (With help)

The B200 error is usually fatal and you can get it for all sorts of reasons, the most common reason is a print head failure, but it covers a multitude of other little errors too.

If you happen to have an old print head from your previous model and it would fit, I’d give it a go just to see if you can reset that B200 error, and then put back in the current print head.

I reckon purchasing a new print head is about the only thing you can do because without knowing the lead up to your error it’s hard to say if anything else could have caused this error, sorry..

Hello "The Hat",

Thanks for your response but the MX892 resisted all my efforts to bring it back to life. I bought a Brother MFC which will serve my needs for now. Frankly, I decided to try something else because of the low ink cost and annoyance with all the machinations of Canon to extract every last cent of profit from loyal customers.

So far I've had the Brother MFC-J870dw a few days and am pleased with it.

Best regards,

Tom C

@twcinnh Thanks for giving us an update on your current situation Tom, and I do hope your new machine is far cheaper to run than your previous pesky Canons were..
