Aren't we all, some positively refuse to consider command line!

But as you will find, once you have it set up, you can use the batch files (see end of post #1) for any required profiling configuration, effectively minimising the need for command line entry. You will also be able to create your own batch files, by editing an existing one.

I found time this late afternoon to install the Argyll CMS and proceed with target creation, but I hit a snag in the very beginning.
So.. I unzipped the exe folder in the C drive and then created the path. I moved to the next step, which is updating the driver for colormunki.
I tried to update it, but the exact file(ArgyllCMS.inf), which needed to be chosen, according to the instruction, is not visible. I selected whatever was visible for the browser window to no avail.
After a while I decided to uninstall the munki driver, which I did, but then the Windows was installing it back all the time. I went to the driver folder in System32 and deleted the munki sys file(driver), which did not help as the OS loaded the same driver again.

So, I am disappointed, even before I started...bad luck I guess, but perhaps( more likely) I have done something wrong.

Hi Pete, I am also running Win7 64, so it will work if you have the correct files. The image in step 6 of post#1 shows the Argyll driver folder in Device Manager, second line, if you click on ArgyllLibUSB-win32 devices, it will expand to give ColorMunki (Argyll), but you must have the ColorMunki plugged into an USB port for it to appear.

I have x-rite Munki already installed and in Device Manager, when I plug the munki hardware I see: X-Rite devices/colormunki.
What I did is to right click on the munki and then ask to update the driver. I manually browse to the usb folder and then the path is this: C: \argyll_v1.6.3\usb\bin\amd64 or C: \argyll_v1.6.3\usb\bin\x86. I can go to usb folder only, but nothing is visible there.



However, I tried all possibilities and at the end I got this:

Adding Argyll drivers to existing drivers:

If you currently have applications other than Argyll accessing your USB connected instrument, then you will have to manually install the Argyll driver, and then switch back and forth between the Argyll and other drivers if you want to switch between applications.

To install the Argyll Driver:
(Plug in instrument)
Start -> Control Panel -> Hardware and Sound -> Device Manager
(Locate the instrument in the device list. It may be underneath one of the top level items.)
Right click on instrument -> Update Driver Software... -> let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer -> Have disk... -> Browse...
->argyll\usbfolder -> select ArgyllCMS.inf -> Open -> OK -> Install this driver software anyway -> Close

This above is the exact instruction how to install the driver. I have done that, but can not see the last file to select: ArgyllCMS.inf

Did you have the CM plugged in when you did the original Argyll driver installation? It seems that you are working within the Xrite folder and checking for Windows driver updates. I would start the Argyll/Colormunki install again. It worked OK when I did it.

There was no original driver installation as i already have a driver for CM - the x-rite driver. I needed only to update the driver(manually), following the argyll installation manual, which I did, but can not find the driver in the "usb" folder, in order to update it.
Yes, I work within the x-rite folder in Device Manager as the munki driver is there when you plug in the CM.

Yes, I had it plugged in, otherwise the x-rite/munki is not in the Device Manager.
Is your Windows 7 x64 or x32 and do you see this file: ArgyllCMS.inf in the "usb" folder when you try to update the driver?
If you can see it, as I do not, and your Windows is x64, I might not unzipped the Agryll exe folder properly.
I will uninstall all x-rite munki soft and then will start from scratch. It might helps..

The only things I have done so far is:

1. unzip the exe folder in the C: \ directory
2. set up the path( i am not sure if it will works)
3. installing the munki driver - unsuccessful -

When I was updating the driver I did it wrong.

Hi Pete, this is what I was writing in reply but, I see you have it sorted! Good, you are sure to find other problems, but when you have it all set up correctly, it will be very reliable and enjoyable to use. You are setting an example for others, no names!

"If you look at the image in post#233 the list of folders in Device Manager include a folder "Argyll LibUSB-win32 devices", this is generated by Argyll when you install the Argyll ColorMunki driver software and contains "Colormunki (Argyll)". But you must have the CM plugged in to a USB socket for it to be visible, if you unplug it, it disappears! Plug it in and it reappears.

As you do not have this folder it seems that the installation process was not complete. You seem to have the instructions to install and switch and un-install, so I think you will have to go through the process again. I am running x64 but as you can see Argyll uses a win32 device."

Yes, I have the driver installed and shows in Device manager: Argyll LibUSB-win32 devices.
I even managed to generate and print the 480 patch target via Qimage. I left it for overnight to dry completely.
So, I need to make the ruler now and then read the patches. I hope to not do a lot of reading errors...fingers crossed.

In fact, It was straightforward up to now, no mysteries. Thanks to all of you of course!
I just double clicked on the .bat and that brought me to the Command promt where I hit 1 then 2 and I had the .tif file to print.
Cannot see it much easier the that, even for a fool like me.
