Here are a couple of photos of the print head that I lost when it got damaged in transit a while back !

You can see how the purge unit (Parking station) knocked lumps out of the nozzles and added all of the little scratches that are on the rest of the nozzle plate.

I also found something very interesting with the back of this head there is quite a large amounts of sealing gel applied to the electrical ribbon that connects the brass and ceramic plates.
I tried removing the plate screws to see the damage from the inside but I couldn’t get the plate to budge, obviously there was gel Adhesive holding it down too.

This is the first head that I’ve seen with this gel on it, so maybe there is a design problem with these heads after all, if not then why is this new sealing necessary, O’ and just for your interest these plate screws are odd, one is a left hand thread, so beware !

This is similar to my IP6700d heads, I mean the sealant.

Interesting vivisection.

Seems there were vertical G-forces also.

A company I make profiles for had damaged their wide format
Canon imagePROGRAF W8400

They were transporting it to the customer with print heads installed too. The printed worked fine except it was printing a horizontal line where it should not. So the local service centers did not find the cause either, they replaced the print head wires, etc. etc.

Printheads were replaced too. The problem remained. Because the Motherboard was expensive the seller decided to brick the printer and paid customer compensation fee and sold printer for parts. End of story.

So we can learn that never transport printer with print head installed if it isn't EPSON, Brother etc. with non removable printhead.
