Hi everyone. This site was recommended to me by others in the off chance that you folks may be able to help with an Epson printer firmwre issue. Will create another thread shortly as I can't find the info here by searching.

Certainly an impressive site - and who would have thought there would be a forum just for printers!

OK, What the heck! I want to post a question in a forum and I can't because I have to have a valid recipient! Huh? I have NEVER, EVER, seen that on ANY other forum site?
Am I supposed to know someone on this site I have just joined? That's silly.
Can you supply a forum name instead of a person?
Where is THIS explained?
AND WHY on God's green earth would you want to do it that way?
Very confused! Quite frustrated!

Hi Mike,

Just tagged your reported problem for the moderators to hopefully bump up to the boss for investigation.

Not sure where the valid recipient thing has come from but you don't need to know anyone on here so I suspect the "Recipient" side of things is more likely to do with email address validation or similar.

As I said though, the powers that be will have gotten a ping so hopefully they'll be able to help further.

I have no idea what it was that the site was asking or why. what aspect of a forum asks for recipients? Did I trip into some kind of IM thing?
But, I was able to start a thread normally soo....
Never mind! Some really odd user error!

Mike - as one of the earliest participants on this forum when it began, I must say that I've never encountered such a rule! Software glitch??? Misunderstanding??? Whatever it was, we will pass this concern up to Nifty, the person who began the forum and is responsible for maintaining the forum software.

Needless to say, you are absolutely, totally, welcome to participate. Our rules primarily cover maintaining civility and preventing spamming. Depending on how much you choose to participate you will soon get to know several of the more active members, enjoy sharing their knowledge and appreciating their varied personalities. It is the most friendly, information filled forum I've ever encountered.

Couldn't the problem just be that you need a valid Email address to be able to receive the mail with the activation link?

Due to a change of ISP I recently changed my Email address, and I got this mail to my new mail address. I had to click the link to reactivate my account:
