Hello,

I searched quite a bit but could not finde a solution.

I bought an Epson 1500W new and set it up with the original ink. The prints shows vertical lines. I did the cleaning 2 times and the printhead adjusting 7 times. The print from the adjusting function got better, but non of the test-squares is completely free from vertical lines.

How does the adjusting function work?
Should the results be completely free from any lines and softnes?

Please post a Nozzle check print here, or at least describe if it has any defects in the test print. Also posting a sample of your print defects might help.

You may have a warranty issue.

The Nozzle check test print looks ok.
The print from the adjusting tool is not completely ok. Number 5 still has some vertical lines.

Strangely enought russian forum resetters.ru has got a Epson forum sub section titled:

"Качество печати - полосит, двоится, не печатает, мажет"
"Print quality - strips, doubles, no prints, smears"

There is no such sub section for Canon's, just saying....
Epson printer has very small amount of nozzles and if one of them is having a problem (air in the nozzle, clog etc.) you get banding stripes etc.

If regular cleaning utility does not work, and you have warranty then use it.

After printing some more the problem has improved. I stil get traces of vertical lines in some parts of prints with yellow greenish color. Other colors are good.

In the scan above it is not clearly visible. The test-Pattern shows no lines in the first test, but lines in the second and third. I asume the final result of the adjustment schould be no lines at all.

Does anybody know how the adjusment works? It can't be reconfiguring the nozzles, I assume. So what is calibrated with that function?

From reading reviews before bying the printer, the 1500W was said to be very reliable and good for using different alternative inks, including pigment and carbon.
I haven't tried many different papers yet and not done any profiling. But juged so far lab-prints are much better than what I get from the Epson.

The nozzle check may look okay at first sight...but it has to be really flawless, without a single missing step of each color grid...

@Smile
If a canon "is having a problem (air in the nozzle, clog etc.)" and shows NO banding or stripes - the result will be burnt nozzles. No cleaning anymore...

BTW one click on "canon print quality" at resetters.ru shows up two long threads about "stripes"...there are surely more to find if I would understand russian...

Talking about nozzle check. The regular test-pattern with the zig zag wave in each color, looks good. But the small squared test patches on the adjustment test print are blured or showing lines.

Perhaps leaving the printer for a day idle will solve the problem?
