I have to take exception to some of Freestyle's opinions as well.

However, they might be comparing the truly PROFESSIONAL models (the printers with stands and roll feed) rather than the simpler desktop models most of us deal with.

A 16 bit plug-in?? Where do I get this??

I'm sure you are right, but a lot of the observations apply to consumer products, too.

I think he may have been referring to "Print Studio Pro."

http://www.canon.co.uk/Printers/Inkjet/PIXMA/Professional_Photo_Printers/Print_Studio_Pro/

I have seen claims that it is 16 bit. (Probably not from Canon). This is the internet so fanciful claims are part of the landscape. If you look hard enough somebody will tell you it cures cancer as well. :ya

I used it, and when I had my pro-9000. It definitely made it easier to achieve a neutral black with their single photo black cart.

Have not found a need for it with my pro-100,

In my, not so humble opinion, Qimage is the solution for a printer interface at the consumer level, prior to the need for a full blown RIP.

"..Canon thermal head tends not to clog. Epson printer heads tends TO clog. Canon heads will self-clean if it does clog. Epson's heads do not. Canon's thermal technology (heat) tends to keep the nozzles cleaner than the piezo-electric design Epson uses."
Regarding home printers I never heard of such a general verdict.
Truth is all inkjet printers tends to dry out without using...canon will burn the nozzles - epson will clog or trap air. Canon PH is easy to renew, epson PH can be cleaned much stronger. For refilling canon carts have to be treated correct, for epson you can buy refillable carts - or a ciss, which both is not recommended for canon. There may be more pro's and con's to consider...

And Regarding large format printers, I wonder why anybody would still buy a big epson...BTW what about HP...??
