Hello guys,

I bought a Canon MP550 several years ago, and everything went fine till couple of days ago, when suddenly after starting up, B200 error popped up and can't get rid of it. Here's what I tried so far:
-replacing ink cartridges whith brand new ones;
-cleaning printhead with isopropylic alcohol;
-cleaning the encoder strip(the transparent strip, correct me if I'm wrong).

Somewhere around this forum I found some Pin Masking technique, but it seems it doesn't apply to my type of printhead (mine is QY6-0073, if you have Pin Masking for this type, please share).
Strange thing is that the only way of starting the printer is by opening cover, powering up, and after printhead moves to the left, close the cover, but when I attempt to print/copy/scan....B200 error reappears.

Any help on the matter is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

If you get the B200 error in the MP550 that usually means that your print head has died and no amount of resuscitation with keep it alive, your only alternative is a new head sorry..

Hi,

pinout of QY6-0072, QY6-0073 and QY6-0080 is same.
Pin in QY6-0073 masking is same as in QY6-0080.
QY6-0073 is missing two contacts, but in fact it is one shortened pin (from 5 contacts to 3 contacts).
Tape have to be left on contacts, this is not a reset or so, this is like removing fuses from power board in house in order to prevent hurt while replacing broken lights.

Strange thing is that the only way of starting the printer is by opening cover, powering up, and after printhead moves to the left, close the cover, but when I attempt to print/copy/scan....B200 error reappears.
Yup, it also works with some other printhead errors, but it is very unsafe. Can damage motherboard with dead printer in return.

I found method mentioned above very popular on my local after-market. Very popular fraud method in used printers to mask some errors :(
