The link takes me to a log on screen for that forum. I am not a member. You may want to copy and paste the info and link to where the printer is on sale.

All of them! LOL
The deal is from http://mpex.com/ with code MPEXPRO10 at check out.
Normal rebate is $200. However, they are ALL out of printers. But they claim they will have more units but they will be delayed.
Big deal, the sale will probably be over by then!

I just did the application of the code.
The price drops to $299 that minus the $250 rebate brings you to $49!!!!!!!
Though on the main page it states it is a $200 deduction.
Hell, either way it is a steal!

You have to look at the rebate form and see which rebate applies to your purchase.
If you buy a Camera you can practically get the printer for free.

Looks like if other company follow suit, there will be a flood of PRO-10 in the near future!
Now if they did that with the PRO-1 I would jump on it!

Thanks Jtoolman. I'm just reading my emails. The link should've taken you directly to the page where the discussion was - don't know what happened. I see they are all out now. I would keep ckecking back or give them a call to see if they allow you to order it even though it's out. It's worth a shot if you are think you want it.

Well I'm late here. For anyone who was ever concerned that about longevity and refilling, should have snagged the Pro-10. Here's why. If you use a Pro-100 and need to buy OEM carts for longer lasting prints, then after two to three sets, I figure, the Pro-10 would have been less expensive by then at the higher price it normally is. At this price, it is not even a thought. Folks should snap this machine up.
A lot of pigment ink bothers like swapping blacks....no swap needed. Gloss differential.....Chroma (Gloss) optimizer makes even the refilled output superior to Epson OEM output. Canon OEM vs Epson OEM....not even close. Reviewers seem to not jump on the Pro-10 because it only has one gray. This NOT an issue. Properly calibrate and profile your monitor with Argyll CMS ( a good 2+ hours.. use LUT with large matrices and you need to be careful as you CAN botch it up) and then compare Epson B&W vs Canon B&W. Larger useable ink capacity than the Pro-100....less refilling.. The only thing is that it is a tad slower and retains the same reliability as the Pro9500. The rabbit and turtle scenario. And...for the beginning refiller........much easier to refill using the dribble method and squezy bottles. NO TOOLS or mods required.
Ease of refilling and reliability.....not ONE support call about inks and refills since July4 th when I introduced the inkset. My months of delays and prior testing seems to have paid off. I wish all inkjets were like this.

What does this mean?

That's sure to raise the cankles of the Epson fanboys.

I do recall @The Hat's easy drip refill method. Given your praise, and the smooth, non-clog functioning even if left unused for long periods of time, maybe I should make room for a pigment ink printer.

Pigment ink has a Matte Black and a Photo Black. Here is why, PhotoBlack has very finely ground particles so that it is not too rough when laid on glossy paper....you want some smoothness on the paper surface for gloss. (pigment sits on top of the paper) Get it? OK, these same finely ground particles when laid on matte paper or plain paper seeps into the open pores and then appears as less dense "gray" because it is below the surface. Matte particles are larger and stays on the surface more and is exposed as black. Put Matte Black on glossy paper and it rubs off because it is not meant to adhere to a glossy surface.
On Epson printers that use 8 active channels, depending on the media you use, it uses the same nozzles for both MK and PK. It just needs to change the ink between the two when necessary and this is called a switch. On the older printers this is carried out with a physical swap of cartridges. MK and PK has a different chip ID, so that when there is a change, the printer knows to perform a flush of the printhead after the switch.

For the hobbyist who changes media on the fly and more frequently than a Professional selling prints, the non swap nature is both more convenient and less wasteful...especially on a Canon that uses less ink when priming the printhead than an Epson.

For a professional who prints principally on a standard media for a long time or a run, switching is not an issue and proves less wasteful when it is hardly done. Thus to switch or not depends on the use and their application and use requirements.

I also own Epson printers as well. However, to say that one printer is superior to the other because of more grays is invalid I am of the opinion that much more goes into control of the dot than the droplet size itself. In other words do not assume that all printers can printer all the permutations and combinations that is possible in a dot that is comprised of many droplets. There appears to be shortcuts or limitations of the nozzle combinations that is used. The more real permutations and combinations addressable by the printer, the better the IQ.

I think when the Pro-100 and Pro-10 was introduced, Canon did some major reengineering in the dots control area. They did the same when the i9900 and Pro9000 was ushered in. Same printhead but the Pro9000 was visually less grainy......that tells me it has to do with the RIP inside the printer and how color droplets are blended. Fast forward to the newer generation and a further evolution of more processing power and more control of the nozzles. We don't know the details of the engineering as it is buried in marketing "features" but the output is noticeably superior to the prior generation.

The Pro-10 delivers what a hobbyist and semi pro would want. It knocks out the Epson R2000 category and challenges the R3000 at the same time offering the gloss optimizer that many Epson owners have wanted for years on a K3 machine. The drawback is that it has smaller cartridges. Again at the price of $49, it is more than a steal.

Let me say this. Canon finally found some clever product marketing guys and have placed models strategically where Epson is going to hurt and cannot react because for Epson to react, it would disrupt their total product lineup and a major revamp of their entire lineup...their cash cow and what VP ever wanted to risk that?

I always hear guys going about the speed of this printer and that printer which amuses me to say the least.

I reckon if you want speed then print in draft mode and be prepared to catch the sheets as they come out but if you want quality prints then be prepared to wait because quality shouldn’t be rushed IMHO.. :)
