Okay - who will be the first filling these inks in his epson 1400 - p50 printer?
One cart with 200ml is around 40-50 euros, a set of four makes 200 (for a 4 channel like my litttle L300), a set of six makes 300 ...

my guess it protected by a process patent (german Verfahrenspatent) MANY technical workflow in the industry is protected by international "copycats" due to regulation by these kinds of patents.

Why are there no 3rd party ink manufacturers, who can use these very strong dyes to formulate very fade resistant dye inks? I am willing to pay 3 times the price compared to OCP dye ink, which still makes the ink very cheap.
The simple answer to your question @pharmacist I reckon is, if 3rd party ink manufactures used stronger dye formulas then their ink would end up as expensive as OEM inks are and very few guys would buy them..

Thanks for ink links :)

The Frontier ink is 5times more expensive than OCP dye so you are close to "3 times the price compared to OCP dye ink". EPSON drylab ink is however more than 10x expensive.

aardenburg-imaging lists the Fujifilm Frontier DL 400 inks as 40Years resistant, then there is rapid drop in quality, and dE erros are huge, so if the DX100 inks are the same permanence it's still way better than 14years for OEM EPSON L800 inks tested by WIR. But since the WIR does not test same way and aardenburg-imaging has not tested L800 perhaps I'm wrong comapring these.

aardenburg-imaging lists OEM Canon PRO100 with the very best PT-101 paper and so far the DL400 is better in that comparisson.

P.S. The aardenburg-imaging lists same Fujifilm Frontier DL 400 inks as 0.9 Years if you stick them to window glass and leave it on the sun, my tests show that OCP dye inks are very dead after just 2 weeks !

I think it's better to have a dedicated printer due to ink costs, but I wonder how this Fujifilm ink reacs with say OCP, or other third party ink. Could be OK but also could clog the head.
