Hello Dr. Anwar. I read your personal "conversation" (this forum's version of a Personal Message) and see you have posted a new thread on the same topic. Good. The forum is best when trying to figure out what to do since everyone can comment and help you.

I have an older Canon printer, the MP830, and I do not need a Service Tool to enter Service Mode. I do not know which Service Tool you will need but Martin0reg has provided a link to a thread that may have your solution. Another thread for you to take a look at is

http://www.printerknowledge.com/threads/canon-service-tool-v2000.6615/

This thread is 14 pages long but read it through to the last post as there seems to be a Service Tool 3.600 linked on that last page.

@PeterBJ is one of our resident Service Tool experts. The link I listed is a thread from PeterBJ on Canon Service Tools.

Hi Dr Anwar,

The 5B00 error is indeed your absorber pad full message and the best way to solve this problem is to first enter Service Mode, now don’t get this mixed up with Service Tool, they are two different thing altogether.

To enter Service Mode you have to start with your printer turned off but is connected to your PC with a single USB lead and no other printers should be connected at this time.

Service Mode:-

Press and hold the Resume Button and then press the Power button, but don’t let go of either buttons.
With the LED light on the Power Button, release the Resume button only.

While still holding the Power button, press the Resume button 5 times slowly and then release the Power button.

Wait for a minute or so till the Power Led stops flashing and when it does your printer is now in Service Mode.

You can now run your Service Tool.exe, but please remember to only press the buttons that you know will zero your waste ink absorber pad and don’t go pressing any of the others unless you know what you’re doing.

(This App can be destructive).
Good Luck..

P.S. Service Tool Version 3400 and 3600 will work on your printer.

Thank you alot @The Hat
I did exactly like what you said But when l press resume button 5 times and then release both power and resume button the power LED doesn't flash, instead the red triangle LED below the resume button flashed and the printer did not enter the service mode thanks again. ..

Hi Dr Anwar,

There are only two ways of entering Service Mode on a Canon, printer one is to press the Resume button twice and the other one is the one I all ready described to you above.

The newer printers always use the 5 button method so I can only assume you may have pressed the wrong buttons, (Apologies) I do notice you have a load of buttons on your printer model.

Can you identify the buttons before you retry the Service Mode again, the power button is very obvious and needs no explanation, but how about the Resume / Cancel button, and this button can also be used to eject paper from the printer before its finished printing ?
