Hi,

My knowledge of printers is completely minimal.

I'm an artist and I sell prints of my art. It seems more cost effective in the long run to just buy my own printer than to keep paying local print rooms to do it for me.

I was looking at the Epson Stylus Pro 3880 as I would like to be able to print A2 onto fine art paper.

I would obviously love any feedback if anyone knows about the print quality. I always get professional, hi-res photographs of my paintings and my photoshop knowledge is actually quite good.

But my main question is how costly the inks are or rather, how quickly I will need to keep replacing ink cartridges?

I usually do limited runs of 50 prints each month (different painting each month). If I was printing 50 images a month (full colour, A2 paintings - usually a lot of black involved) could anyone give me a rough idea of how often I might get through cartridges or a rough idea of how many prints/cartridge ratio I'd be getting through? (I hope that makes sense)

My budget is under £1000. If anyone could recommend any other printers that would be great. I don't need a scanner. Just professional print quality and A2 size.

Thank you!

Josh

I guess with under ~100 Prints each month is "ok" to stay with OEM Inks but refillable cartriges and aftermarket ink will drop your price per print tremendously

i just happend to have the 3880 Pro and use it with refillable carts and a maintenance tank resetter works fine for me, we have at least ~500 print each month from A4 to A2
