Is it OK to keep a laser toner out?

@Apostolos: u are most likely right about the printing... but all i know is that i have about the lowest price printing i can get. and the prints are pretty good. the pics i need to print are ones with models wearing clothes. if images are super small, doesn't look that good (still can get away with)

as for brand: i just bought from amazon.co.uk.
i would have save a £2 buying from ebay... but i bought from amazon on purpose - if they ins don't work, then from experience, i know amazon treat customers well
(having said that... recently... ebay changed it so that if an item is faulty, then the seller HAS to pay return postage costs)

@lukasz: i spent soooo sooooo much time research about what printer to buy. this one was the best one. i wasn't aware about the warranty. if something goes wrong, i will plead ignorance. i have not seen it anywhere clearly labelled that using 3rd party toners invalidates. i even asked for feedback on amazon regarding this. i purchased and paid using my credit card. so i have protection. but... if i get 10,000 prints over 1 year - i'll be over the moon - this will mean that it's 10,000 orders

in which case... not too fussed... i'll just buy another printer

i had a look through the paperwork that came with the printer
nowhere does it mention at all that u are not allowed to use compatibles and that the usage of compatibles causes invalidation of warranty

if the compatible ink can be proven to have caused problems, then of course you are not covered - but that applies to anything

if i use compatible inks and the paper gets stuck somewhere... then i would say i still have 100% cover
if the printer is severely clogged with ink, that's another matter

i've already had one replaced under warranty because paper got stuck - but then i was still using the original toner

Once again performing thread necromancy because I didn't see this mentioned: if your printer has the drums on the carts themselves you must avoid as much exposure to light as possible. Light can damage a laserprinter drum (so especially don't do it next to a sunny window). Refills often but don't always come in black bags. If not, they're relying on the box for darkness. So make sure you quickly re-package and store them out of the light!
