ok i need help reconnecting my mp990, it seems that it only wants to print with a cable, desktop is win 7, laptop is win 8.1. the printer is connected to the router via wifi ok, the printer will print from the desktop if the cable is connected between the printer and the desktop. if i unplug the printer usb cable the desktop says that the printer is off line, and the laptop says the printer is offline, i can connect to the web with the laptop via the wireless router and the printer has made a connection with the router via wifi, the desktop is connected to the router via ethernet cable, so when i print from the desktop it should go hardwire to the router, router wifi to the printer, but it comes up offline what is up with that?

Hello,

Wifi (or Ethernet) printing need another printer instance in "Printer & Faxes" folder. Just install it again as a WiFi or switch it from USB to WiFi with "IJ Network Tool".

You have two ways to install wifi Pixma printer on certain computer:

A. Connect printer already installed on USB and then run application called "Canon Utilities"/"IJ Network Tool" from start menu.
Inside You will find options to set wifi connection to printer which is already connected to USB.

or

B. Manually pair printer with router and then run again printer driver installer:
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/suppo...ixma_mp_series/pixma_mp990#DriversAndSoftware

Just follow on screen instructions in printer driver setup - there is even option to configure WiFi connection via USB cable.
