I have a Copytrax Davinci 6-6 CD printer which is an Epson 1400 that has been modified with a CISS system and A3 CD tray (the printer no longer prints on paper).

The problem I'm having is that the printer will do 1 print at the correct speed (3 min), thereafter the printer slows down to between 15 to 30 min for a single print. The quality and colour is fine and the printer doesn't give any errors although it will sometimes stop printing 3/4 of the way through, the driver settings are also correct and not set to any slow options (I run 5 of these machines).

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this slow down?

I've bought a replacement main board, hopefully it sorts out the problem.

Does anyone have any advice for lubricating the main shaft, our local accredited Epson repair company said they would use Shield Tool in a can but the workshop manual says to use a grease, any ideas?

For Canon printers the recommended lubricant is a grease Floil KG107A, which is nowhere to be found. A good replacement is Molykote EM-30L. This works very well with Canon printers. I think silicone based lubricants should be avoided, as they might cause electronic contact problems. See this thread for a discussion of lubricants for Canon printers.

But your printer is an Epson, so maybe this post by Smile is of interest? It has recommendations of Epson lubricants.
