Anyone upgraded there Canon pro 1 to the new firmware 1.2 and does compatible ink still work with the new firmware. Any major difference in printing?

If you upgrade your printers firmware the answer is yes the compatible cartridges and inks will still work and no there will be no major difference to your prints, however if you intend to disable your ink monitoring then there will be huge differences.

Now that you’ve got your answers, do you still really want to upgrade the firmware and for what benefits and to whom, it most certainly won’t be to yours or your printer, so my advice is DON’T, if your happy with it then leave things as they are.

Happy Printing.. :)

Hi Mr. Hat,
I'm new to the Canon Pro 1 and haven't run more than 13 4x6 prints through it. Are you suggestion that it is not wise to update firmware UNLESS there is a problem? I was always told it is good to update software/firmware when it comes out. How does one know when it should be done if not with every new release.
Thanks,
Thom

When it comes to printer firmware (and router firmware as well), ONLY upgrade the firmware IF

1) the update fixes an issue (performance or safety) you are having,
OR
2) adds functionality you want.

Do NOT upgrade for the sake of upgrading. If it ain't broke then don't fix it.

to put another way, if the printer is doing what you want then do not mess with the firmware.

Thanks, Stratman. That makes perfect sense to me. Always wondered why upgrading was necessary if everything was working okay.
