Hi. I have an Epson Artisan 710 with a Piano Book CISS from Leonard John. This combo has worked great for me for years.
Does anyone have any ideas how I can get my black ink to work? I have run about 4 head cleanings and I have taken the plug out of my black ink tank and cleared any air bubbles twice. All the other colors print and the black was working fine on another 710 but when I switched to this one I had no ink at first and then after one head cleaning I had all the colors back but no black. Thanks for any help.

Hi annel

I would check the ink level in the Piano Book ( lay the piano book on its back, do this three times, this works out the air in the back tank)

Another reason why we went to the deluxe tank...air in the back tank..

Next

Take the maintenance plug out the cartridge, raise Piano Book and force air through the line and out of the cartridge.

Repeat this for all colors...

Then run 4-6 printhead cleaning...

Check our website under FAQ for further information

Thank-you Leonard. I will give these steps a try and post results.

Hey Leonard - or anyone - Does anyone have a plan B? I did everything exactly as you suggested - black is still completely and totally awol. When I print a nozzle check all colors are fine except black - it is non-existent. I don't think it is a problem with the piano book because it was working fine yesterday on a different printer. But that printer had black smudges - I assume from the rollers so I pulled out this one. It has not been used in close to a year.
Thanks for any help.

Okay - I just hooked up the old printer and the black ink comes through fine - so there is not problem with the piano book unit. The problem is somewhere in the printer. Any ssuggestions are welcome. I have done at least ten headcleanings and removed all air.

Now - a second question as well if anyone has any ideas. On the old printer I have a column of black smudge on the left side of my paper as well as one small dot of black always in the same place. I have cleaned the small black rollers that are easily accessible with alcohol. Does anyone have any other ideas?
Thanks so much for any help.

Odd I have same problem like this, just posted my details over in this thread, but I do indeed have the deluxe CISS from Leonard. See that thread, but I even went as far as removing the print head and soaking it in cleaning solution and flushing the nozzles. Problem cleared after that dis assembly and cleaning, but just returned within a few more printouts and further Epson system cleanings no longer help issue like it did in past.
