* I would like to know whether some ink is consumed every time when I switch on my Pro 3800 ?
* Also: when I would keep the printer switched on permanently whether the printer heads are kept uncovered and ink will dry in if the printer isn't used for longer periods?

No, it doesn't, but it does clean sporadically and shutting down or switched on permanently does not affect the small amount of periodic and tiny cleaning cycles at given times. I shut down my printer every time to save energy.

All of them! LOL
ON occasion if you are printing several large prints, my 3800s will pause between say every dozen big prints and run a short cleaning or purge.
However they do not do so at startup. All the noise you hear is pressurization pump and simply....normal startup noises. Also, unlike other printers that carry their carts on the head carriage, the PRO-3800/3880 does NOT initiate an ink purge when new carts are installed!!!! That is a wonderful thing when you really think about it.

If you buy your ink in bulk and refill it automatically elevates you into the "who cares Club" as one such refiller I can honestly say, with feelng, WHO CARES!

And that is a real nice feeling. Could only be made better if there was a way to reduce the cost of good paper by the same ammount.

Cheers
