just picked up an 8 year old technology printer, no WIFI, no iPad/iPhone support, large foot print, heavy, etc

yup, found a new MP830 for $70 + $45 shipping, $115 total. new printer, print head, ink carts, etc.

my MP830 has 55,000 pages on it, with over 350 refills, so figured i'd take a chance on another one.

any thoughts on paying $115 for 8 year old printer technology ?

The only thing that has changed since then is increased ECM's (Electronic Counter-Measures) to "discourage" refilling or 3rd party cart use...

Print output quality really hasn't changed much for a decade (or more).

AND...run your printer in "quite" or "night" mode to preserve the print head...

If I had a similar offer I would buy the printer immediately :)

These older printers might have less "Bells and Whistles" than the newer printers but have more steel used in their construction.

Well $115 for a new MP830 delivered is more than I could buy it for eight years ago without delivery, so yes it’s a huge bargain especially the fact it’s a real Gem of a printer..

just compared the shipping weights on the older MP830 vs the new MX922, the 8 year old MP830 is 11 lbs heavier, would rather have steel than bells/whistles.

genuine canon MP830 print heads now run $100 or more, that is if you can find one that is genuine canon.

even see someone selling a new MP830 on amazon for $800+

Just don't believe the advertising phrase - "the new, IMPROVED ------------"
Sometimes it is true but this time it's not!!!

my "new" MP830 arrived yesterday, shipping was $45, printer was $70.

good news, all items were accounted for and were truly new. sometimes "new" can be mis-represented by a seller, but not this time.

so 5 new ink carts, new print head and best of all new "old school technology/built" MP830. canon states print cycle useful life of 19,000 pages, my current MP830 is at 55,000 pages.

been a while since i moved my existing MP830, had forgotten how heavy they are, 11 lbs heavier than its current replacement model. also nice large ink carts that are transparent on both sides, so easy to refill.
