Canon Pixma 620 United Office refills

It seems that United Office brand compatible cartridges for Canon PGI-520/CLI-521 printers exist in many versions, possibly made by several different manufacturers for Lidl. My Lidl cartridges also show printer models on the side and top labels, click to enlarge:



I guess the drop on the top label is a Peach logo, but am not sure. Compare this druckerchannel.de photo of Peach cartridges.

These carts look different the chip lies horizontal but pivots on a little block up to the usual 45 degrees but the chip portion is also attached to the much longer pcb ribbon with the black rivet. The chip seems integral to the full length of the ribbon. The chip is NOT seperate like the OEM version. Top and side label covers models of canon covered including my Pixma MP620.

Better eyes/guess work than me just looked blurry to me. If anything to my eyes it just looked like the chip holder (or what would normally be the chip holder) or atleast that molded part is missing. Not suprised the cart does not work when there it a flimsy circuit board and nothing solid it hold it in contact when in the printer. Hard to say for sure as their pics are not clear enough.

Could you not extract the ink from these cartridges and use it in your other cartridges, and forget about the chip change altogether..

Was kinda part of my advice, it is only worth messing about so long before a small investment makes sense, in this case a set of used Canon carts if he does not have any to refill already.

Yes these would appear to be the Peach version the drucker channel picture shows the PCB and rivet I referred to
and the chip swivels on a little block and like CakeHole suggests may not have sufficient pressure. I did not retain the receipt from Lidl so would probably not get much joy anyway

Yes could extract the ink but is it worth it now I have received a fresh supply of I.S. would assume not a good idea to mix suppliers. I have plenty of carts but thought that was where my problems started from previously. So for a period being using compatibles with great success. I am certainly not going to refill several sets at a time like previously but refill the cart which is in the machine (if working OK) and put it straight back in

DO NOT mix ink... by that i mean do not drain the old lidl/peach cart and from the syringe (or whatever you use) put that ink into the bottle containing the new ink you have purchased. If you drain a cart and do not know the make of the ink store it in a separate bottle and label where it came from would be my advice.

You can get away with using different carts/inks in the printer normally PER CARTRIDGE (again do not refill a cart with more than one type/brand of ink, id even suggest if switching ink brands to flush the carts first).

The only issue you will normally have in mixing and matching cart brands is the colour match may not be perfect. An Example you could have say 4 Canon originals and a single aftermarket cart in the printer and in my experience that will still work fine, just colour match may look off (one colour normally looks more saturated or under saturated compared to the rest) You normally only notice if you have a fussy eye or are doing serious photo work. For the odd print and image and casual use you should be fine. Of course the best thing is either use original canon carts or refill original canon carts with a good brand ink and use the same brand across all carts.

I do not fill and store carts normally though have done so at the moment as i am printing a lot so the "spare" set do not sit around long. If you are not burning through ink though i personally would not fill and store carts, refill as and when needed, that will prevent ink drying out/mould/algae/bacteria forming or other issues that have been mentioned on these forums from full carts sitting around for extended periods.

Further to my difficulty with the United Office Ink Cart creating error messages on my Canon Pixma MP620.

I rang the customer complaints number, the very polite operator asked for the barcode from the box, this established it was January. He said would send a refund letter which I received 2 days later. Next time I was at the store bought various items paid as usual.

Then told the till operator I had a refund due, he called the Manager he in turn entered various codes into the till and duly handed me back £14.65. and took the bag of carts. (4 unopened). So all in all very good service, and there was never any query that I no longer had the original invoice.

Nice one Good to hear they treat their customers well Now go get some original used carts from octoink and some refill ink would be my advice. You will never likely have any issue if you switch to original carts and refill them.

Cakehole I already have done this for some time but eventually ran into nozzles missing/banding on Cyan and worst Magenta. So for a while I switched to compatibles which completely cured the problem so suspected various used carts/ink.

Have just got a fresh supply of ink from Octoink and will see how things go. will only refill the cart showing low so hopefully fully maintaining the vital ink bridge.

Certainly Lidl must be A congratulated for their customer service and B their computer records from 1 barcode also must be very good.

If you’re going to try refilling your own OEM cartridges again, I would strongly recommend you take a bit of time out to view some if not all of @mikling videos.

It will only take a short while and it may refresh your memory as to what and not what to do and just maybe help you avoid the usual pitfalls that are waiting to hit your printer if you haven’t quite got it right.
