First Thank you for your response, sorry I've been doing my works for a while. I still hoping there will be any other solution. including hardware level repairing since this is an eeprom, hopes any other way to override the usual method. or maybe the newest service tool could help ( maybe if there will be available ), or upgrading firmware which is I don't know how yet.

Hello,

Some time ago I got MG6250 with 6A81 Error. After removing "foreign materials" from purge unit, I have no problem to run service mode. Canon Service Tool 3400 works fine on Win XP 32b (please look at MG6250 ACEL25464 2013-12-07.txt), USB connection is necessary.

The way to go into service mode is same as for MG5150, but have to know position of "stop" button first (before it lights). "Stop" button acts as "resume/canceI" button. I put some sticky tape little over "Stop" button to mark it position when inactive.

Any other buttons combinations - essentially connecting power cord while holding "On" button - makes printer half-start with all LEDs lights lit (including backlight of control panel), but with mechanical shutdown.

Good luck,
Ł.

P.S.
Sorry to my English :)

Thank you very much for the info. I guess the text file was generated by the service tool, by using the "Save EEPROM" buttton? This function is not supported by my older iP3600 and MP540 that are of the PGI-x20/CLI-x21 generation.

I guess the printer only has a mechanical ON/OFF button, the rest of the buttons are replaced by sensor fields?

If so, could you please describe the procedure that successfully got the printer into service mode?

I have also experienced problems with entering service mode if the printer had a mechanical error that would prevent it from starting in normal user mode

I think your English is very good, no need to excuse :)

Yes, this file was produced by "Save EEPROM" button, and yes - EEPROM export failed to work on iP3600.

Yes, only ON/OFF button is mechanical. However, "stop" button is "listening" service mode sequence even if not lit, and power/alarm LED are "switching" any time when "stop" button is pressed. If service mode sequence is OK, none of "sensor" buttons are lit while entering service mode - only power LED blinks. When mechanical self-check is over, power LED litb constant.

Test print and ink absorber reset was made with (Canon) Service Tool v3400 (running with administrator privileges on Win XP 32b).

When mechanical error occurs, Service Tools operations cannot be performed leaving (if I remember) "Error: 001" alert.

Thank you for the instruction. Excellent idea with the animated .gif, It clearly shows the procedure. It is often said that a picture is worth more than a thousand words, certainly true in this case. :)

The procedure is the same as for other printers like the iP3600 with the exception that the sensor field is pressed 5 times instead of the stop/resume button pressed twice on the iP3600.

Canon printers are region specific. This cannot be changed. You must use only chipped cartridges designed for your specific region. In other words, only cartridges designated for use in Germany (and Europe) will work with your printer. Australia is a different region and those cartridge chips designed for that region will not work with your printer. You can get appropriate model cartridges mailed to you via the internet but you probably will not find them in Australia.

It is possible you have corrupted the printer's function by unsuccessfully attempting to enter Service Mode. Others with more knowledge on this topic in the forum will need to speak on this issue. In the meantime, please describe in detail exactly what you did to get into and out of Service Mode.

As mentioned by stratman, service mode operations cannot change the region of the needed cartridges. Your MG7550 will only accept region 5 cartridges, PGI-550/CLI-551 cartridges, which are intended for use in Europe. Changing the region setting will only lock/unlock CD printing and determine what paper formats are set as default and which display languages can be selected.

With the introduction of the cartridge generation PGI-x50/CLI-x51 where x is a region dependent number, a service tool newer than v3600 is needed. The attempt to use a wrong version of the service tool can lock service mode so it can no longer be entered. This has happened to me with an MG5550 that is also of the PGI-550/CLI-551 cartridge generation.

I also have an MG5450S also of the same cartridge generation. This printer had not previously entered service mode, and version 4720 worked. I could get test and info prints and change the absorber counter value. You can read about this and more in this thread that contains the newest forum knowledge about Canon service tools.

I would not expect failed attempt to use service mode to lock the printer completely, I would only expect locking access to service mode, but here is a case of a locked MG7520. The MG7520 is identical to MG7550 except for the needed region 2 cartridges for US/Canada. It looks like Canon has made the access to service mode even more difficult/impossible.

All Canon service tools need a Windows computer to work and the printer must be connected via USB even if the printer might have wireless capability. MacOS and Linux cannot be used with the service tools.

Normally you would read about service mode operations in the service manual but service manuals for printers of the PGI-x50/CLI-x51 generation and newer are nowhere to be found.
