My son-in-law bought a 2530 because of my recommendation. I bought him a refill kit from Precision Colors, hoping to save him some money over the life of the printer. Today he calls and says that he's getting the low ink warning from the black cartridge. I explain to him that he must replace all the carts with the refillable ones even though his original color carts are still showing more than 3/4 full. So he replaces all of them as instructed but now he can't get any black to print. I go over to his house and re-install the refillable carts and run 2 cleaning cycles but still no black will print. During a nozzle check the colors print fine but not a trace of black. What do you think could be the problem and how do we go about fixing it?

Remove the black cartridge and use a syringe with the tip. Push the tip into the cartridge where the ink comes out normally. Now pull a little on the syringe. This will confirm if black ink wants to come out. Alternatively push up the same hole and see if a little ink exits. That will confirm if ink can flow out. If ink comes out then, we are good to try again. If it does not, then email me.

Thank you for the fast response. Unfortunately I won't be able to do this tonight but will be there tomorrow. However, I did verify that the ARC cart is full of ink and when pressing a tissue to the output got ink to come out.

Any chance the vent seal is still sealed....not likely cause you got the color ones to work.

This sounds like it could be a warranty call to Epson.

I'll check tomorrow and let you know

Put the OEM color carts back in with a brand new OEM black cart and after a call to Epson Support it now works fine. Support had him
do 3 cleanings and 3 nozzle checks and after that everything seemed to work fine. I'll have him tape the ARC carts and save in a plastic bag until he runs out of ink again. We can mark this thread "solved".
