you can follow the instruction on ink republic's site http://www.inkrepublic.com/KnowledgeBase/3800-irefill-faq.asp it requires 7 chips from OEM carts (doesnt matter it is read as empty or used or full), and you can reset waste ink tank too. pretty easy to install and use.

I know for sure, inkrepublic's 3880 carts can accept empty chips, not sure about others.
