    Proof lights

Can anybody recommend a low price lighting solution for evaluating proof prints? Using available or regular artificial lights doesn't seem like the way to go. I have a light box for negatives, wondered if that would be suitable?

Inks for printing metallic or white...

Yes I know, now I just need to find the right type of foil in the right amounts for the right price:) Btw, read about somebody adhering the design by using a laser printer. She sandwiched the foil to the substrate (with the design laser printed on) using some scotch tape and ran the whole lot...

Program for auto arranging small photos on large sheets

Do you know how to program? Is it a limited set of mosaics you need to print? If the job is often the same except for the image files being used a custom script could be a solution. I had the same challenge with my school photography business (I've been told that in business nothing is a...

Inks for printing metallic or white...

Ok thanks, I found out I can get some heat transferrable metallic foil that will adhere to the dye of a laser printer with some heat applied. Will try that out.

Inks for printing metallic or white...

I have this idea for a landing page to a website I am making for my more arty/fashion oriented photography. I would like to print my logo etc. on some dark coloured silk paper using a light metallic ink (or white perhaps), then crumble up the silk paper and restraighten it for added structure...

Unexpected Fade Test Results: Ultrachrome Vs Ocp Vs Is

To me it looks like it is a black or gray that turned magenta. The gray scale represented in the bottom of the picture that looks like an 'X-Rite Passport Color Checker' at least suggest this.

Recommend high volume photo printing on inkjet

My logic sense complete agrees. My curiosity just want to buy it and see if I can fix it. It's a monster though so being covered for now with a Canon pro9500 it also wouldn't take up space until really needed.

Keep the tone please. Back on subject... The more I read about this 4900 issue the more it seems that Epson techs are very loose on the trigger when giving the verdict 'new print head'. I have a feeling that many of them could probably be revived after seeing the video and reading the comments...

That one looks good and I agree on the baby sitting problem lol. I guess there is no way around cutting I just hope it is possible to make it looking good and accurate.

Recommend high volume photo printing on inkjet

Just read some more about the 4900 and the amount of negative reviews is staggering. People are furious at Epson for what looks like flawed design. There was even a class action lawsuit under way and funnily enough I could find Mark Segal, who wrote that positive review on Luminous Landscape, on...

Recommend high volume photo printing on inkjet

Costadinos let's say that I got one or two 4900 printers and printed from rolls. Are you saying that it would be faster to print on wider paper and then cut than a slimmer paper normally used in a dry minilab due to the time between printing a new file? cls, I don't quite get what you tried to...

Recommend high volume photo printing on inkjet

These are the exactly the kind of answers I needed, you guys have already saved me a tonne of money, time and frustration. This forum is awesome! Costadinos it sounds like you got it pretty much pinned I will look into cutting but I still have this nagging feeling that I wont be able to get it...

Recommend high volume photo printing on inkjet

The R3000 sounds pretty promising. 9 pigment colours including 4 monochrome, paper rolls and reasonably priced. I could almost get 3 for the price of one 4900 which should make up for the slower speeds. Big question is ink supply. It takes 26ml cartridges but are there good non-OEM inks and are...

Recommend high volume photo printing on inkjet

I considered the Epson 4900 last year for the exact reasons you mentioned, I just read too many horror stories about print heads constantly clogging up and needing expensive replacements so I'm a bit nervous about that model. It seems a bit overkill with an A2 printer for the sizes I print (I...

Thanks TheHat! How many sheets of 170g do you think the pro9500 paper holder can take? Also how many 7x10" prints do you think I can squeeze out of each refil? I suspect it will be the gray and black ones to empty first with a mix of colour and b&w prints. Running a number of printers at the...
