Thanks for testing for me! I thought it would come down to the paper in the end, as it produces really great prints on photo paper.

The gelatin idea is interesting.
I print through photoshop, i feel as though i've tried all possible settings and profiles, also played around with the 'total ink levels' in ps- can't see a 'detach paper width' option - I will try the overprinting idea.

So, when I print on cartridge paper I use the 'plain paper' setting, I should say that when I print on bog standard plain 80gsm printer paper the dark block colours are less 'speckly' and I'm guessing this is because the paper is smoother.

I have been battling for months to get good prints on uncoated stock.
On photo paper my canon ix6550 produces beautiful prints but when I print on cartridge paper I get speckling - almost like its not getting good coverage.
I suspect there is nothing I can do, but any ideas as to why...
