An 8220 and Canon software update 3.0

I was wondering if anybody was already running 3.0 and had seen any problems with refilling carts after the update. I realize that things may not work out exactly the same unless you are using 3.0 on an 8220. However if folks are using it without issue, I think I would risk it and assume I can...

    All in One

I sorta' wish I had the desk space for a stand alone scanner, mainly so that I could choose the scanner I want instead of taking what one gets in the all in one. But in my case I usually scan so that I can manipulate something digitally and then print that output. So if my printer won't print...

    FLUSHING....WHY?

Well for example, Mikling has his videos about the carts and how ink moves between the reservoir and the sponge side and Gandad35 had his post where he dissects the fibrous material that makes up the sponge side itself with photos to boot.... It may be just me but I did not understand the...

    FLUSHING....WHY?

Mikling also has a series of vids at his Precision Colors site and in one of them he draws the ink back from the sponge side into the reservoir using one of the earlier, clear Canon carts. You can see that there is little ink in the upper sponge and it leaves the upper sponge area pretty...

    FLUSHING....WHY?

Interestingly I noticed the dif between lower and upper relative to how the ink reacted to them but had not read extensively enough at that point to understand how specific the design was in that regard.

OEM refillable carts for the MG8220

Do you guys all prime the sponge side of these 221/220/225/226 carts as the first part of the fill operation by dropping some ink through the ink exit hole on the sponge side? I have only found one youtube vid for top filling these low profile Canon carts and the fellow refilling first drops...

OEM refillable carts for the MG8220

Thanks for the answers. I think I did a rather poor job of asking the second question. I do have two sets of OEM refillable 220/221 window tanks with 225/226 chips that I got from Precision Colors. So I do have two sets of tanks for refilling. I was wondering if it makes any sense to actually...

OEM refillable carts for the MG8220

So, I think I know the answer to one of these questions, but maybe not. First: When this model and similar model Canon printers are confronted with a mixed page of color graphics with a high text content, does the printer default to the pigment black to print the text or does the presence of...

    FLUSHING....WHY?

I do wish we could feel comfortable with performing software updates and refilling. Not really happy with having to give up updates as ultimately that can end up getting you in other ways. On the other hand, having an update change your ability to refill is a pretty bad deal. Arghhhhhhhhhh!!!

    FLUSHING....WHY?

Funny how search engines all work differently. Did multiple searches for some of the topics I had interest in without much luck. Went searching for "testing carts" just to review how many different methods there might be.....BANG....just about everything I was searching for previously showed up...

    FLUSHING....WHY?

Wow...what a great post. Thanks very much.

    FLUSHING....WHY?

I think if you review the videos from Precision Colors that are attached to this thread, in the only video that includes the smaller window tanks (221's) PC reports that the way the prism works in those tanks, some amount of ink is used from the sponge side before the low ink warning message...

    Canon Service?

I often wonder how the expansion of internet commerce and the ability to ship just about anything anywhere meshes with what we commonly think of as "Customer Service" or "Product Support". Sure most all larger commercial enterprise works for us here in the US. Just about everything that has...

    FLUSHING....WHY?

So looking at the videos regarding air pockets on the sponge side of a Canon ink cart especially with regard to the 221 and up, opaque series with window and without, it sounds like one does not get a low ink warning until some ink has already been used from the sponge side. I am guessing that...

    Ink volume of 221/220 tanks

If I don't get the volume here, that is exactly what I am going to do. FIgured if somebody already had it, I would just use it. Knowing how much is needed for these opaque, window reservoir tanks when the low ink warning message comes on has got to be the cleanest way to do this. I am now...
