Epson 3880. Canon Pro 9000,
I just finished watching a four part series put together by jtoolman on youtube WOW:ep

Talk about Christopher Columbus and the egg. He does it here and now with Epson OEM carts, WELL WORTH A WATCH...11/10 for innovative research and development, he also credits un-named others with clues along the way, and good news for those folks that have 3800 or 3880 and are worried about non OEM carts and air leakage over time.

Cheers,

PS even if you do not own one, have a look at the set away, he is a Gem in our midst!

Quick Method to defeat The T58 ( PRO-3800 and 3880 ) one way valve!
New video.

Once you master this method you can in about 10 minutes have a fully working OEM T58 cart ready to be refilled with the ink of your choice.
As in the case of CANON OEM cart refilling, being able to refill your T58 OEM carts will run circles around ANY refillable EPSON PRO 3800 / 3880 / 4800 /4880!

As long as they have the same type of exit valve, the method is the same. Resetters are also available for 4800 / 4880 printers.

Joe,

I had a look at the update, I just had a feeling about the drilling! the ' new ' method is mush better.

Epson are gunna have a contract on you soon if you keep this up.......they will probably have a Secret Agent creep in your studio and 'spike ' your inks :gig

How are the standby carts for ink drying around the valve while they are waiting to be used?
I ask cos you recommend having a backup set on stand by.

Cheers,

Andrew

Well funny you should say that! Epson changed the coding on a couple of the chips and the resetter that I use will no longer reset them so the Chinese have come through with a new one that apparently works on all the colors plus the maintenance tank. LOL!

hallo joe
greetings from Hamburg Germany

I have been in contact with various chinese companies that develop and produce refillable catridges as well as 3rd party cartridges

Especially the 3880 has a HIGH Demand since now various "customizing" Garment Printing companies been utilizing the 3880 as a flatbed printer.

They change the color setting to CYMK WWWW (4x White) and only run the machine with a specialised RIP (WhiteRIP or Flatbed RIP was it I guess)

Since there is no way to deactivate the CSIS Board on Pro 3880 Models chinese developers are always on the edge cracking all new chips epson is releasing on their cartridges.

I just bought a rather HIGHly used 3800 Myself for little money (~80USD) with two full empty sets of cartridges.
According to the previous owner CYAN was badly "clogged" which would result in NO Cyan at all infrequently, my first guess was "Bubbles in the airlines"

Hooked it up, checked the stats 6300 pages printed 4550ml ink consumed
most of the print in "full Size", photographic print with FOGRA certificate for prepress proofing and stuff, not really my métier

ordered few sets of refillable cartridges, found the authentic "Adjustment Wizard 2" for the beast
all inks fully recognized (yeah!) Select INITIAL CHARGE on the wizard charge and drop about 180ml Ink tru all channels

Wait for 4 min to settle off and the manually check the cleaning assembly and pourous pad,
apply some ammonia based cleaning fluid and about 40 Qtips later print the FIRST nozzle check
ALL expect magents 100% perfect
Magenta is missing about 18 individuall nozzel in the upper rows, some ink nozzels seem skewed somehow, I have to print some stuff and maybee clean the head manually with the "cloath under the printhead method"

Need to create at least 8 ICC Profiles for the OCP VIVID inkset I use

Now I will most likely get Rid of my Both R3000 units...
but situation is unclear

Hello Joe,
I studied with growing interest your technique for refilling OEM cartridges for the Epson 3800.
This really is an excellent idea!
I have some questions:
- can I apply your method on cartridges that still contain a lot of ink? (I assume, yes)
- when I have modified and filled a cartridge the only thing to do is put it back in the printer and start printing?
No problems with chips and the like?
(You will soon conclude that I have little experience in using my 3800, but that is the reason for now being a forum member!)
Thank you for your reply!
Harry

You can do the MOD at any time. For the reset of the chips, they should not be allowed to become empty. I find that if the cart weighs at least 90 grams, the chip will reset properly. Allow them to become empty and the chip will become useless.

Yes. Reset, fill, extract ALL air you may have introduced into the ink bag with a syringe and reinsert into the printer.
Print.

Hello Joe,
Thank you for your reply.
Do I understand correctly that after modification of the Epson OEM 3800 cartridges, as described by you, and after properly refilling them, there is nothing I have to do with respect to the chips themselves?
Do they automatically reset to show full, or the actual level of ink in each cartridge? If so, do they also keep on showing the actual remaining levels of inks?
That would be too good to be true, but most likely not the case?
By the way I did send you a message via this forum, but apparently something went wrong?
